Discover the Wonderful World of Oolong Teas.

Our Oolong Tea blends, often categorized as semi-oxidized teas or artisan infusions, are lively mixtures that beautifully combine dried Camellia sinensis leaves, buds, and sometimes petals for a stunning color and complexity. These infusions are a sensory delight, featuring the natural sweetness and toasty of real leaf. They are moderately caffeinated, making them an ideal choice for a refreshing pick-me-up any time of day, a healthy alternative to juice, or a delightful mid-day treat.

The signature elements of our Oolong Teas, like Tie Guan Yin and Milk Oolong, offer their own unique benefits:

Dried Tea Pieces (e.g., Leaves, Nuggets): Provide natural sweetness and a distinct flavor profile to the blend. They are rich in polyphenols and natural sugars, offering a guilt-free treat.

Petals: A floral staple in many oolong blends, it delivers a vibrant amber-gold color and a lovely, nutty orchard-like flavor. It's often associated with cooling and hydrating properties.

The Difference: Our Oolong Teas are true teas (leaf infusions) made primarily from dried Camellia sinensis plant, buds, and stems, and do contain the Camellia sinensis tea plant. This means they are inherently caffeinated and naturally moderate in tannins. Unlike traditional tisanes (Herbal, Rooibos, and Honeybush), which are primarily made from stems, our leaf blends offer a burst of complex flavor that is naturally refreshing, both hot and iced.

Best Way to Brew the Perfect Oolong Tea

Oolong teas are very forgiving, and the key is using a medium temperature and a slightly shorter steep time to fully extract the flavor and color from the dried leaf and buds.

StepDetail

Water Temperature Medium Heat (185°F-205°F or 85°C-96°C). The hardy leaf pieces and buds require medium heat to release their essence and color fully.

Tea Quantity: 1 to 2 teaspoons of loose leaf blend per 8 ounces (240ml) of water. Adjust based on the blend's density and the strength of the leafy notes you prefer.

Steep Time: 3 to 5 minutes (or lesser!). Since there are Camellia sinensis leaves, you can steep for a shorter time for maximum flavor without worry of bitterness.

Preparation Tip: Oolong Teas are arguably best served hot. To make the perfect pitcher, double the tea quantity, steep in hot water, then pour over ice-filled glasses with lime slices. They are naturally sweet, but a dash of honey or sugar can enhance the leaf notes.
